I know that many would say I’m a little late on this blogging concept, but I think I am right on time. I have not been prepared (mentally, physically, or emotionally), until today (I hope).
This last week I signed up to receive daily e-mails from one of my favorite blogs-hesitantly. Every previous time I tossed around the idea of subscribing to any blog, I figured the number of e-mails I receive daily are enough, but I finally gave in.
This is where it has gotten me…starting my own.
Today is the first birthday for http://withoutwax.tv/
I have wanted to start a blog for some time now, but because of a number of different “fears” (uncertainty, upkeep, challenging comments, submission to “waxful” ideas (please see the blog above for an understanding), and transparency). Pete has inspired me to give it a run.
I have no idea how often I am going to update or what I am going to say, but the whole purpose of the creation of this blog is to allow others to come be completely free, completely transparent, completely you, so that the rest of us can gain a better understanding of the world that we live in. I want it to be like this:
Perspective -> Perception -> Translucence -> Transparency
What have you wanted to do for some time that you finally did? What made you finally do it? How did you do it? Why did you do it?
What have you wanted to do for the past couple of months that you still have not done? Why not?
i am learning the guitar at 50. i was scared to pick it up then our youngest son encouraged me in a conversation over christmas, “why not you”, why not me is because i have no talents, he plays and makes it look and sound so good. i tried…. he was my teacher over the last month during christmas break from belmont. he was patient and kind, i am really a slow learner. we are driving back to nashville today and the tips of my fingers are going numb, he says thats a good thing. thanks for getting me out of my comfort zone.
Oh, the Places You’ll Go!
Dr. Seuss
Oh, the places you’ll go! There is fun to be done!
there are points to be scored. there are games to be won.
and the magical things you can do with that ball
will make you the winning-est winner of all.
Fame! You’ll be famous as famous can be,
with the whole wide world watching you win on TV.
Except when they don’t.
Because, sometimes, they won’t.
I’m afraid that some times
you’ll play lonely games too.
Games you can’t win
’cause you’ll play against you.
All Alone!
Whether you like it or not,
Alone will be something
you’ll be quite a lot.
And when you’re alone, there’s a very good chance
you’ll meet things that scare you right out of your pants.
There are some, down the raod between hither and yon,
that can scare you so much you won’t want to go on.
But on you will go
though the weather be foul.
On you will go
though your enemies prowl.
On you will go
thought the Hakken-Kraks howl.
Onward up many
a frightening creek,
though your arms may get sore
and your sneakers may leak.
On and on you will hike.
And I know you’ll hike far
and face up to your problems
whatever they are.
You’ll get mixed up, of course,
as you already know.
You’ll get mixed up
with many strange birds as you go.
So be sure when you step.
Step with care and great tact
and remember that Life’s
a Great Balancing Act.
Just never forget to be dexterous and deft.
And never mix up your right foot with your left.
AND WILL YOU SUCCEED?
YES! YOU WILL, INDEED!
(98 3/4 PERCENT GUARANTEED.)
i strongly recommend you get the whole book because what you are facing right now with uncertainty in the future i personally in my life am banking on God and Dr. Seuss
