A common theme I have seen on a couple of other blogs is that of questioning-especially God. Is this good? bad? neither?

I have come to the conclusion that it is different for everybody depending on their situation and circumstance. For example, I think that some people absolutely need to understand the reasons behind something before they sell out completely to it. For others, they do things without even having to think about the reasons.
Here are just a couple of positives and negatives of each that I have found to be relevant in my life:
Positives from needing to understand: you have the ability to test out those reasons and see if they are valid in your life. Negatives: you waste a lot of time, energy, and thoughts.
Positives from not needing to understand anything: you have the potential to be happy all the time in all situations. Negatives: you do things that don’t make sense.
There are a lot more, but what I have found lately is the freedom involved with not having to question why when it relates to guidance from God for one reason (if not a hundy): He knows what is best for me.
I can rely on God without having to understand why because of His perfect, all-knowing way of thinking. Through this, the negative of doing things that don’t make sense is scratched because He is only capable of encouraging things that make sense. The problem is that we try to have them make sense to us, right here, right now and thus we are trying to have something perfect make sense to very broken and imperfect minds – doesn’t always work, but what does always work is God’s plan.
I believe in understanding and truly wish that I could have an understanding of everything that is brought my way, but it is so freeing to know that with God, I don’t have to know why. Does this mean that I stop asking why? No, not at all – I still ask why all of the time because I think that there are things that you can do with (logical, reasonable, or other) understanding that you cannot otherwise, but I have found the most productive method is to ask why with an understanding that God will answer you in His time … not yours.
What are some of the most difficult things for you to do, knowing that you might not understand why you are doing them until you are well on the journey?
Do you think it is important to ask why?
What are some positives and negatives associated with asking why vs being content not knowing why?
Why not though and … ?
great new read out called faith AND doubt, the most important word in the title is the middle one based on the authors opinion. for me it is being patient . waiting is not fun, i havent met the person who enjoys waiting, i know about the polishing process that is taking place, just havent grown to enjoy it like i should. i can do all things THROUGH Christ WHO strengthens me. OK, i think im getting closer.
haha, I love it – what a great comment … I think we need to find our “balance”
Since the day we learned to think we learned to ask, Why? The only thing hiding in God is love and truth, ask away….
