Sorry about the late delivery … had one of those super mind busy days – you know when you look at the clock and then look at it again and an hour has passed?
Not a good day for this to happen considering I had a case study to turn in at 3:40, but I did it!
I spent a lot of the day thinking and writing. I sat in front of my computer at the breakfast table and Chloe kept scratching at my leg so I got a blanket from the living room, put it on the table and placed her on the table right next to me.

She sat there for 3 hours with me while I thought.
Chloe lesson #8: Sometimes what people need the most is just somebody to sit with.
When I have a friend who is down I so often feel like I need to talk to them. I try so hard to come up with that one thing that is just going to snap them out of their funk, but I worry about not saying the right thing because a lot of time the unstable mood can backfire. Solution: just sit with them and don’t even talk.
I know that there are many situations where talking is exactly what somebody needs, but Chloe just sitting worked wonders for me today.
I’m off to watch the dog whisperer with Chloe so I can learn how to become “calm and assertive” – trying to find that “balance”.
Any other suggestions as to how to deal with people who are down or mourning or sad?
