I have been wondering lately how am I supposed to be sharing God’s truth to others?
Well, I got an (singular) answer today 2-fold: “Irresistable Revolution” chapter 5 and 1 Corinthians chapter 2
In “Irresistible Revolution,” stories of Mother Teresa are told first hand in beautiful ways … the one that hit me today is how she, Shane Claiborne (the author), and Sister Margaret (a “seventy-year-old revolutionary Catholic nun” connected to The Simple Way) all have tried to
Scream the Gospel with their lives.
In 1 Corinthians 2:14 Paul says,
“The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.“
I think I have my answer for right now in my life: first and foremost, I need to just live.
So, instead of working on being able to eloquently describe the ways of God in an English language (which I don’t even know if I will ever fully comprehend), I need to be working on living not only for God, but with God – by my side, every minute, every day.
For even if I was able to most precisely depict Truths in perfect English, it still would not make sense to the unbeliever.
Hopefully, my life will look different, will be different because God’s power is differentiating, to say the least.
I think God uses people uniquely to fulfill His perfect plan, how are you called to share?
Why does a Christian life not look very different than any other life??
I love the Mother Teresa way… Scream the Gospel with MY life! What an awesome way to do it. I’m going to work on that!
I’d say for me, one with a narrow vocabulary, it’s often difficult to find words to express my feelings, much less to describe what God is all about. I also am a little more reserved about my faith, maybe less evangelical than some. That may be my downfall, I’m not sure, but it’s always been easier for me the show than tell.
Someone recently has helped me understand the importance in actions verses words… Actions are much more influential. So I’d say living out the life God calls us to live is how I have to share his ways. For me LOVING is HUGE.. I feel very called to love each and every person i come in contact with. You really cant describe God’s love, so why not just show it as best you can (which is very difficult at times).
I think Christians lives should look very different than all others, it makes me sad to think that we dont stand out at times. We should be shining with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. We should be gleeming.. and every nonbeliever that sees us should ask themself, “What do they have that i dont?” The best way for people to GET what we’ve GOT is to SHOW them what they are missing out on, this PEACE that definitely passes all my understanding, how bout yours?
Ashley- I see Jesus in you, thanks for the reminder of what He looks like. God is Love.
