My bible reading today oh so “ironically” covered chapter 8 in 1 Corinthians…
Wanna guess what the first 3 verses are about?
Yup-love…hmm…coincidence?
Believe what you want-it doesn’t matter to me…
But I am trying hard to listen, and am thankful that God is repeating this theme in my life right now.
I’m getting married in 25 days…coincidence that love is being so heavily shouted at me today?
I don’t think so.
Just happening because that is what I am thinking about often or want to happen?
I don’t think this either.
God is listening and responding in beautiful ways?
I think so.
It seems way too fitting …
Back to 1 Corinthians 8:1-3
…We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know. But the man who loves God is known by God.
Knowledge puffs up…love builds up.
Paul even claims to try to know nothing outside of Jesus‘ life and resurrection.
How bout you? Do you read the newspaper or the bible first thing in the morning?
Typically, I go to my e-mail first, then Yahoo probably, then my Bible study … ouch.
Do you think you know something (in a prideful way)?
I do often, which means, I do not yet know how I ought to know … ouch.
But, I love God so much, and sit comfortable knowing that He knows me.
So today, I’m working on destroying my pride, setting my knowledge first, and putting love first.
Which means acting when it is hardest, and I know that I can’t do this on my own – so I ask for help, and He always provides.
Are you puffing or building?
