Jesus’ use of parables + the living word of God + Holy Spirit intervention = miraculous truths.
Mark 4 holds 4 remarkable parables:
- The Parable of the Sower
- Light Under a Basket
- The Parable of the Growing Seed
- The Parable of the Mustard Seed
I think it would be so cool to have you pick one of these parables – pray…go read it…study it…pray about it again…then respond with 2 things:
1-what you think the original intent was to the audience of the day.
and
2-whatever truth God is speaking to you personally from that parable today.
What parable did you pick? What do you think the original meaning was/is? What is today’s application?

Regarding: The Lamp Under a Basket.
We all know that light is good and darkness is bad. So why do we get upset when Jesus sheds His light on our sin? Why do we try to block His light when it exposes the darkness of our flesh? Why do we let pride try to choke out this cleansing process?
Those who are adopted by God will become like Jesus. So it’s better not to fight the transformation. It’s wiser to let the light to fill in all the dark alleys and empty crevices that harbor the hatred of the old man.
The more one submits to God’s Truth, the more fruit God’s Spirit can bear. On the contrary, the more one gains by relying on his own resources, the more that man will have to give up. There is no gain in acting godly or trying to be good by my own power. I am pitch black. Jesus is perfect light.
So, today’s application: Beg God to fill me with His light–to expose hidden sin and to destroy it by His power.

Some Neurotheologists believe Moral Puzzle Solutions by individuals stimulate the development of the superego, where our conscience guides us in doing what is right versus what is wrong.
Developing one’s own conclusion or answers about moral puzzles creates and firmly implants complex neural connections and circuits between pre-existing substrates in the Striate Cortex of the Brain.
God created the brain, circuits, substrates and Jesus, the teacher, to achieve the potentially right moral result for His children.
