i was watching the georgia/florida football game and florida’s qb, tim tebow, had phil 4:6-7 written on the black strips underneath his eyes
do you know what this passage says?
i wasn’t able to pull the passage from memory, word for word
yet this passage has been so instrumental in my life when i really needed it.
sounds a little similar to how my relationship with God used to be …
going to Him & resting in His provision only when i really needed it,
otherwise, i quickly forgot about His provision
& in turn, forgot about Him.
what a waste.
i was missing out on so much…
on His provision in every situation-good, bad, & other
i have realized, in moments of clarity, that i always really need him
thus, i have started to try to focus on God in every situation,
especially those situations where the world would say, “you are good, you have it under control” (what a lie)
i still fail and try to do things on my own every now and then, i’m far from where i need to be, but i’m getting there … step by step, day by day
similarly, i have begun to very intentionally try to memorize as much scripture as i can
so that my mind can continue to be transformed
so that when my mind begins to wander, the ideas/thoughts/words that my mind wanders to are more likely to be perfect, absolute truth, God’s Word, NOT ideas of this world (which we are bombarded with daily)
so that my subconscious is submerged with the Word of God
and the overflow of my heart, the words of my mouth will hopefully become more and more God breathed & less and less ronnie breathed.
phil 4:6-7
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
will you memorize this with me?
how often do you think you need God’s provision?
